Great News!

 Great News!

While there are still several thousand ballots left to be counted, we currently lead by nearly 5,400 votes and it looks like we did it!

When I was first asked to run, I was told that winning an election was a team effort, not something that one person could do alone.  They were right!

I want to thank all of you who played a role in this apparent victory. I would especially like to thank Congressman Trent Franks and State Representative Jerry Weiers for their counsel and support, and our next State Senator John Nelson, for his help in the general election. I am proud to be able to join the team starting in January.

Our district has some wonderful people in it, and I was blessed to meet many of them throughout this campaign.  I will keep you posted on the final results.

Again, thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart for your sacrifices, time, treasure and prayers. Together, we have made a real difference and I promise not to let you down.

Victory in the Primary!

The final results are in for the Primary Election and I am excited to tell you that we have won the primary!  We will be joining our current State Representative Jerry Weiers as the Republican nominees in the General Election in November.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.  This is a victory for all of us and a narrow one at that.  We won by approximately 500 votes, and when you compare that to the several thousand doors that we knocked on and the thousands of phone calls that our volunteers made, each of you can know for certain that your contribution made a very real difference. A lot of people said that we had no chance of winning, but together, we have proved them wrong. That said, there is no time to rest.  We need to focus on the general election in November and we have already started that hard work.  It does us no good to win a primary and lose a general, so I still need your help.  The Democrats have targeted our district and they are promising to throw an awful lot of money at this race.  As always, they will be able to pay people to make calls and knock on doors and we will be relying on a volunteer force.  So any time that you can contribute between now and election day will make a huge difference. Thank you in advance for your help in getting the word out and all you will do.  Remember, "Where there is unity, there is always victory!"

Pachyderm Coalition Makes Primary Endorsements

By Howard Levine
GOPUSA News
July 16, 2008

At its monthly meeting, the Pachyderm Coalition unanimously endorsed several candidates in contested Republican primaries. The Pachyderm Coalition is a Republican Club that focuses primarily on state legislative races and also makes its voice heard in some local and congressional races.

In State Senate primaries, the following candidates were endorsed in these legislative districts (LDs): Steve Pierce in LD1, Jack Harper in LD4, Russell Pearce in LD18, Thayer Verschoor in LD22, and Al Melvin in LD26.

These candidates were endorsed for State House of Representatives: Nancy McClain in LD3, Sam Crump and Carl Seel in LD6, Jerry Weiers and
Steve Montenegro in LD12
, Ron Middlebrook in LD18, and Jeff Dial and John McComish in LD20.

For Corporation Commission, Rick Fowlkes, Joseph Hobbs, and Keith Swapp were endorsed.

In US House of Representative primaries, Sydney Hay was endorsed for CD1 and Dave Schweikert for CD5.

In the Maricopa County Assessor race, Kevin Ross was endorsed. Positive comments were made concerning his taxpayer friendly policies including fostering openness and responsiveness to taxpayers in the Assessor's office.

For Justice of the Peace in Desert Ridge, Paul Henderson was endorsed.

The Pachyderm Coalition seeks promote the Republican platform by endorsing candidates who support the platform, support Reagan Republican policies, and are willing to work in their political offices to implement the platform and these policies as effectively as possible.

Endorsements of candidates for state and local offices allows the Pachyderm Coalition's political action committee to spend money to support them. Pachyderm Coalition members are encouraged to volunteer to support all endorsed candidates with their time and personal financial contributions.

For candidates without contested primaries, the Pachyderm Coalition plans to announce endorsements for the general election at its meeting next month. General election endorsements for candidates in contested primaries will be announced at the September meeting.

We are Advancing!

We have had such strong and positive response from our own District 12 neighbors.  These last 3 weeks have been successful as we have hit the campaign trail with our message. People continue to embrace our candidacy and join our team!

The 15th-17th of February we were able to get the word out, get signatures and a few $5 Contributions at the Goodyear Rodeo held in Goodyear.  About 4,000 people attended this event many of who reside in District 12.  Some people were coming up to us and sharing how they appreciated what we were doing.  The efforts of getting out to LD-12 are propelling us forward. Thank you so much. It is a collective team effort that is driving this campaign, and so far, we are succeeding.  We are in full campaign mode and it's going great!

Our focus right now is to collect $5 contributions.  We need about 260 $5 Contributions to qualify for funding.  These can come from anyone as long as they are a registered voter in District 12. The party affiliation does not matter as long as they are registered to vote.  At the moment we are at about 35% there.  I humbly ask for your help in collecting these $5 Contributions.

You can print the form that goes w/ each contribution at the following link:
http://www.ccec.state.az.us/ccecweb/ccecays/ccecPDF.asp?docPath=forms/5ContributionForm.pdf
The $5 Contributions along with the form can be sent to the following address:

"Montenegro 2008"
13313 W. Rovey Ave.
Litchfield Park, AZ 85340

Have the contributor fill out the middle area, (Name, Address, County, Signature), you can fill the candidates name, (Steve Montenegro).  If they want to sign a check, they can make it out to "Montenegro 2008".

If anyone wants to learn more about me or the campaign just refer them to my website:  www.MontenegroAZ.com

I know that together we are going to impact the Arizona House of Representatives with Fresh and True Conservative Leadership.  Let me know if you want me to walk your neighborhood with you. I would be more than glad to do so.  We are going to make this happen!

Thank you once again for your help.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to give me a call at (623) 826-8108 or email me @ SteveMontenegro@gmail.com.

Great News!

We now have printed material!  We have palm cards that we can pass out while we walk and campaign.  They are very effective and very nice and we have gotten great reviews on them. When I am out there passing them out people really like to see the face and the name along with the message.

"Montenegro 2008" is gaining tremendous ground!  We have been hitting the streets and collecting signatures successfully.  People continue to embrace our message and efforts.  One gentleman told me "I am glad you are running, we want to see you represent us and I know you can win."

If anyone wants to learn about my campaign please refer him or her to my website: www.MontenegroAZ.com

We are currently collecting signatures to get on the primary ballot and $5 contributions to get funding for our campaign.   I appreciate all you can do to help me collect these.

The Message is clear "We are in this to Win!" And, thanks to all of you I know that we will stand victorious come September 2nd.

Once again we are continuing our efforts this coming Saturday to collect signatures and get the word out.  Thank you for your support, time and enthusiasm.  Together we will make a difference!

Montenegro for House 2007 Wrap up

Before the year ends, I wanted to give all of you an update on our campaign.

Let me start by saying thank you so much to everyone who has helped make
2007 such a terrific success.  You have all been a real blessing to our
effort.

In the short few months since the campaign began, we have "maxed out" our
seed money, begun collecting our signatures to get on the ballot, and picked
up some very meaningful endorsements, including U.S. Congressman Trent
Franks, and State Representatives Jerry Weiers and Judy Burges.  We are also
blessed to have the support of so many Precinct Committeemen and local
leaders, folks like Ken Going who has rallied his local GOP group to our
cause.

At this time we have nearly 30 people who have committed to helping our
campaign.  That might not sound like much, but that number does not include
other people who are carrying petitions, volunteering to put yard signs in
their yards, and more.  Those 30 are committed to walking their
neighborhoods to spread our campaign's message of conservative values,
fiscal responsibility and border security.

Keeping the message as short as possible, I want to thank everyone, from the
bottom of my heart, for all of your prayers and support.  2007 has been a
wonderful year and I know we all look forward to a victory for the entire
Republican team in 2008.

May your 2008 be equally blessed and prosperous!

The following is an article from the Sonoran Alliance, a political blog.

A Day At The Races LD-12

House: With John Nelson reaching the end of his term, Republicans in the district had been looking for someone to team up with State Representative Jerry Weiers. Weiers is the brother of the Speaker of the House Jim Weiers and he is reliably conservative on every issue.

Local GOPers believe they have their man and they are very excited about their recruited candidate, Steve Montenegro. Montenegro has already earned the endorsements of Weiers and, more importantly, U.S. Congressman Trent Franks, for whom he works. The Franks endorsement is huge in this district and the manner in which Montenegro has secured the backing of the PCs and leaders in the district suggests that he has been paying attention to his boss’ political skills.

GOP officials are excited about Montenegro’s profile as well as his solid conservative positions. Montenegro was brought to the United States (legally!) by his parents when he was an infant and he has “made the most of the American dream” as one Republican politico describes it. In addition to his work with Congressman Franks, the bilingual Montenegro also works as a youth pastor.

At this time there are no Democrats filed for these seats and, with an almost 8,000 vote advantage, it remains to be seen what effort the Democrats will make to challenge here.
